ION SHOP SERIES | Lavish&Squalor

Born and raised on inspiring and edgy street fashions, vintage finds, and authentic heritage brand followings, Lavish&Squalor is one of our favourite stores to shop at in Toronto. Situated in a beautiful heritage building on Queen Street, L&S offers two showroom floors that are perfectly curated with brands for both women and men such as Ksubi, Won Hundred, Cheap Monday, Mink Pink, Penfield, Life After Denim, and Comune to name a few. The main floor is what they call an "urban marketplace" and the upper level is their "White Lodge,"which gives the feel of a cool loft space, but in no way pretentious. In addition to shopping, you can also grab an espresso or tea from the City Bar located upstairs. Lavish&Squalor knows how to fuel us, and we never want to leave.

What is the inspiration behind your shop?
Lavish&Squalor was an amalgamation of five smaller specialty boutiques that were once speckled around downtown Toronto. We aimed to create a multi-department, multi-branded, premium streetwear fashion lifestyle market place for our amazing locals and tourists of this great city to enjoy.

What does this location mean to you?
This building is very important to us, as it is a turn of the century garment factory that we have completely restored to its original base. It's a place where everyone can find us; locals, students, and tourists.

What is your favourite piece in the shop?
Everyday we find something I take a new notice to. Everything is so versatile and can be mixed and matched with all different looks and moods.

What music is on your shop playlist?
We seriously play everything. Depending on the day, season, and mood outside. Each of our floors strive to create a completely unique environment, so the music is drastically different form space to space.

What are you top three places to go to in Toronto? There are so many amazing businesses to explore in Toronto. A couple of popular ones that have come onto our radar lately would be Grand Electric to eat; Trinity Bellwoods Park to walk you dog or run into people you know; and Bar Chef for a specialty cocktail.
