I would love to win these tickets because I am in love with music, especially bass music. My day to day life has a soundtrack to it, playing from turntables & soundsystems at home, to laptops and speakers at work. I think the lineup at Basscoast is top notch and would love to support Andrea Graham & crew who are putting this event on. I also have quite a few friends from all over BC who are attending and it would make my summer to show up with a wingman/woman to this festival! Thanks for the opportunity!

I have spent a lot of effort so far on trying to provide my friends and cohorts with this amazing experience, some of them need to feel the good energy and vibes from this event to heal from emotional trials and tribulations they've encountered over the past few months, and I'd really like to be able to be there with them whole-heartedly and to provide them with this time together! I would really love and appreciate this opportunity to have tickets so much. Love and light. Meighan

I don't necessarily believe that I am the one who should be guaranteed to win these tickets. I believe everyone should have their fare chance to win and experience the unforgettable memories that can be made at any music festival. However, if I was the lucky winner I know exactly what I would do with my tickets. I would bring a long my dear friend of mine who has been there for me through thick and thin. She is the one person in my life who I could never live without, who has never given up on me and who I have made so many memories with. Music festivals for her and I have definitely helped shape who we both have become. We are both music lovers and dancers at heart, but to be able to share all our favourite things(music,nature,love,dance,compassion,equality..every good value there is really) with so many other people changed the way we act towards others outside of the festival. They really teach you how you should treat others, and how music unifies us not only with our ears but our hearts. My friend and I are currently Basscoast virgins and were lucky enough to have been able to afford ourselves a ticket.I am extremely excited to be able to attend this year especially because my step brother is spinning! If I won these tickets I would choose bring my brother and my mother because my mother so they could experience the magic of a festival and see my step brother play at such a great venue. Regardless, I just hope that the values from this festival flow through whoever wins these tickets and that everyone in the world learns from how we can all live in harmony if we all had a little more compassion, love and patience!

Gracey Wynter says: Why should these tickets be | Tue, 07/24/2012 - 19:46

Why should these tickets be mine? Thats an interesting question. I'd hate to say I deserve them, cause there are many others out there more witty and convincing than I so Im gonna be straight up. I love electronic music, Ive been listening, dancing, hooping since I was 15 (8 years), and not to brag I can spin a mean hoop! The question shouldn't be "Why should I be choosen to go to basscoast"... but What can I bring to basscoast. I WILL bring positive energies, open-mindedness...freedom to be and let be, smiles, laughter, humbleness, respect, a treasured friend and, obviously...my hoops!!! For my favourite thing about these tpyes of festivals, is the unity I feel in such a blissfully choatic scene.

I am a California native who has been unable to travel any where for the past 3 and a half years because of the intense nursing program I am in. My life is dedicated to helping others. Often times, my day ends with someone passing away and though I love what I do, those connections that are severed so quickly can become draining. Being able to travel to Basscoast and connect with others through the experience of music and community would reinvigorate my passion for nursing and my passion for people. It would truly be such a blessing.

I just decided to join the festivities and this would be rad. I will bring lots of vibe and dance moves and make lots of peoples days and eves and nights. I hope it's me so that I can be with all the other bass coasters, be free, be in the freezing cold glacier water, be on the dance floor, be together all as one on this beautiful west coast of ours. Being able to surprise 3 other friends with tickets would be bliss. Did i mention my dance moves?

Here's one reason for every day of the festival why I would be sooo hyped to win these tickets:
1. I'm the type of person who can listen to electronica every waking moment, which my girlfriend doesn't really seem to understand at 8am driving to work every morning...weird right?
2. I adore all kinds of people and would love to be somewhere beautiful, filled with interesting people from all walks of life for 4 days.
3. I would like the opportunity to prove to my friends that my city slicker-ness can indeed translate effectively over to the wild. I've watched Into The Wild...I got this! Oh wait...how did that movie end again?
4. I can't convince the government that my student loan repayments for the summer would be better spent funding local cultural events.

Keep up the good work and thanks for the contest!

I met my fiance at Basscoast. The very first one. He was wearing a blond mullet wig, and some tight leather pants.I had never seen anyone do so many high kicks or sweat so much. We spent one amazing day together. He put on deodorant when I told him he stunk. He gave me a banana and asked for my phone number. That will be 3 years ago, this coming Basscoast. We haven't missed one yet...

Conrad Brander says: Greetings and Salutations! | Tue, 07/24/2012 - 21:26

Greetings and Salutations!

I'd like to start by giving props to the entire Basscoast crew(s) for killing it every time. Love those people!

So I think I'm a worthy candidate specifically for spending all of my time, efforts and money chasing my dreams actively this year. I'm working on building a world class soundsystem that I'm pretty sure will pumping frequencies at many of the major B.C. festivals next year, including Basscoast. In addition, I'm working hard on production and music theory knowledge.

As a result of prioritizing these pursuits, cash is tight. One way or another I'll be at Basscoast, because music, dance and local community represent the best things in life! That being said, winning tickets would make life much more enjoyable and would allow me to fully focus on music endeavors, as well as all the efforts that are going into our Synesthesia Burning Man camp (which is another major work by Vancouver's awesome underground community).

In any case I'd like to say thanks to you Ion peeps, for your support (and creation) of all things artful! Keep up the great work!!!

3 days of creativity, free thinking, and the best electronic music the West Coast has to offer, it is not just s festival but an experience. Will change your life.

I come away from this festival, inspired, rejuvenated, rejoicing, and wholly in love with Beautiful BC.

I look forward to a meeting of minds, yoga on the beach, a brutal combat in the mud pit, and above all music that soothes my ears, a welcome repose from the noise and garbage blasting from radio stations and the endless rows of black BMWs.

The forest is full of magic, and it heals me, and washes away my urbanity, purifies me of the psychic garbage leftover from rigors of the daily grind, the constant rat race, the endless noise of the city.

Here it doesn't matter what your job is, where you live, who your parents all. You are unified in your need to play, create, laugh, and dance your ass off.

This can also be a good momentum to drive me in striving harder to reach my goals this year.

I must say out of the entries recieved so far, Gary McFarlane's is the best.Basscoast is the best festival in B.C.,with the greatest music & vibe for a 1st timer. The Basscoast girls have up'd the anti on talent, this festival is for the true heads of the underground. It's not just a festival to go to for the party,..it's where the true West Coast family heads to to enjoy, and do what they love best..coalescing over real sub bass culture. It would be a positive experience for him,as every one is super chill, friendly & fun. If i won the tickets, i would give them to my kids, as they cannot afford to go on their salaries.

My boyfriend and I are Basscoast virgins, making the trek over from Vancouver Island this August. We heard from word of mouth that this is the place to be, such an awesome midsummer vibe. We bought our tickets months ago and have been eager to get on the road to the project since. If I win the tickets, I will give them to 2 of my friends who could not afford to go, and make their summer. But really, after reading everyone else's posts, I think you should give 1 to the guy who's undergone back therapy (ouch!) and 1 to the guy who wrote the awesome poem :)

Okay here it goes,
I want to have fun. Spending time with friends while letting go of insecurities and inhibitions that our culture brings forth. This festival is an opportunity I want to take advantage of, that I can look back from and think about how grateful I am for those times. I don't have enough money to buy tickets and it's unfortunate because honestly I haven't had a lot of opportunities to have fun with friends. I think that the festival would be very beneficial to my mental health, to allow myself to be myself and be happy with that. That's what I see this festival as doing and I would love nothing more from this summer then to be apart of it.

Jem says: Because that unicorn stole my unitard | Wed, 07/25/2012 - 00:37

So I was at bassscoast last year. It was a wicked rad time, and I really wish I could get back there again. You should pick me, because the fate of a universe (don't worry, not ours) depends on it.

Here's the backstory - It all started last year with my arrival late afternoon. Other adventurers had already come ahead of time to scout out the sitch and lay claim to some grounds near the perimeter where we could adequately rest and refuel in between BASS excursions. In fact, our tent was already set up when I got there, so I had plenty of time to get ready and grab my bearings. Everything seemed stoked for awesome, except that when I opened my tent... there was this strange onesie I had never seen before... (not something to pay much attention to of course, it could have been any camp mate)

Wanting to get an early start on the evening, our crew decided to head out before the sun set. This gave us a chance to see all manner of creatures and art pieces that had been gathered, and eventually we made our way to a bay for slaying. The tones were gnarly! At first, everything seemed totally legit, but I very quickly realized the giant alien lifeforms that had embedded themselves in throughout the terrain. They appeared to be totally harmless, excpet for their obvious attention to costumes... never looking directly at anyone... yet always watching those people wearing onesies. When I alerted my companions, sheer panic (no wait, maybe it was joy?) took over at the prospect that we might all have the garments for this action... Despite only barely arriving on the dancefloor, we already all knew we needed a change of apparel.

When I got back to the camp, I had high expectations of being able to wear this unexpected treasure from my tent, but unfortunately it was gone. I figured whoever had left it must have come back for it, but now that it was dark, things were becoming less comfortable. Worse, I broke my flashlight on the return trip, and had to rely on the light of glowsicks to guide my way down the path.

The eerie green light was weak, and so natch I wandered some ways into the woods. I probably would have became lost except for some fire spinners that continually seemed to toss fire up ahead of me. (or maybe it was that ghost?) Eventually (to my relief) I found myself in a clearing, surrounded by a pack of jovial unicorns. They welcomed me openly, and we shared brews and laughed about the origins of the universe for awhile, and it was nice to relax a little bit (away from the commotion of strange aliens eying onesies for awhile).

As an awkward addendum to our cosmic musings, however, the lead unicorn reflected sadly about a parallel plain where basscoast never existed. Apparently this was the unicorns home, and their planet was dying due to a lack of fun, yet functional fully body apparel. (Coincidentally, they explained that the strange alien lifeforms were also apparently from this same place, and they also shared their universal affinity for a single piece suit.) The unicorns had travelled all this way in search of the cosmic onesie - the onesie that would restore balance to their parallel (but now much less fun) universe, making way for epic good times over there too.

We all had good times through the weekend, but I never saw a sign of that onesie again (while I was at the festival).

On my way home though, I ended up finding the freaking onesie in the bottom of my bag! Although I had only seen it once before, the moon and star pattern were obviously of galactic origin, and I knew I had the key to epic good times on BOTH sides of the universe. Without the unicorns magic though, I was lost to figuring out it's mysteries by myself.

Those righteous unicorns told me they'd be back on the coast again this year. It's my hope that it's not too late to save their home world.

If you have any decency... please consider my plea and let me go to Basscoast this year.

For epic good times, across all existences, unicorns and alien alike.

Gilly says: Bass Coast saved my life!  | Thu, 07/26/2012 - 23:20

Last year was my first Bass Coast and it was such good medicine.. Being surrounded by dynamic radiant angels, all rascally in just the right places, brought me back into my heart and was a timely reminder of how beautiful life can be. Thanks Bass Coasters. I want to go again and spread the love!

Lily Lovepie says: BASSCOAST or BUST | Fri, 07/27/2012 - 13:33

Last year I planned on attending this festival and had everything in order. Until a pain in my stomach discovered I was bleeding internally from an injury. I had an emergency surgery and was bed-ridden for 6 weeks. Recovery was long and life is now full of gratitude. Making the most of everyday, dancing with so many energetic souls would be the icing on the cake as they say. Even if I don't win these tix and get to go make up for last years' missed experience, I can honestly say, just being able to type this here is a gift in its own right! Music, Nature, Bright lights and flashy costumes...we are all winners! THANKS ION for spreading the love!

Carly says: I am way up North in Kitimat | Fri, 07/27/2012 - 23:45

I am way up North in Kitimat at the moment, dying to come to Basscoast. Desperately looking for a reason to up and move to Whistler early (earlier than October, anyways), so that I can be closer to the music. I think that this festival captures the Bass Music movement better than any other and there are many many amazing underground artists that I would really love to hear. Its most likely that you will see me there next weekend no matter what happens, because I plan on propagating Bass Music far and wide, but winning tickets would make the journey a hell of a lot smoother.

Squirrely says: Take me to Bass Town | Sat, 07/28/2012 - 00:16

So Im living way up North in Kitimat and I am dying to go to Basscoast. Grasping for a reason to up and move to Whistler early (earlier than October) so that I can follow the music. This is the best festival for the Bass Music movement, with a great representation of underground and local artists. The lineup is so delicious, I want to serve it with afternoon tea and dip my crumpets into it. Whether or not I win these tickets, I will more than likely be attending because I feel like I need to be there... I need to propagate the love of Bass Music far and wide. However, winning these tickets would make up and leaving my job a hell of a lot easier!

The PROFESSOR says: SHARE the LOVE | Sat, 07/28/2012 - 11:05

I'm volunteering again this year because this amazing festival brings together so much talent, creativity and passion in such a breathtaking place. I would love to bless tickets on some dearly beloveds that may not know or understand what this event is really about: inspiration. What excites me the most is the opportunity is the chance to delight some souls with an outrageously fun time while possibly causing a SERIOUS PARADIGN SHIFT to their entire existance. xox

Alissa says: bass lust | Sat, 07/28/2012 - 11:12

This amazing prize should be mine because after getting acquainted last year and then quickly falling in love over the course of the weekend I have been yearning all year to be reunited with all that is Bass Coast. My lust for serious bass is forcefully strong and my deep need to bounce, sway, and gyrate by the riverside drives me crazy... I simply must make sweet love to this festival again. Last time I was a bit shy... this time when I hear the boom-boom-wwaaa-wwaaa-womp-womp-womp-rrrrrrrrzzzzzzzz-boom-boom wash over me I will let my hair down and exorcize my demons in a frenzy of passion, a fit of wild abandon.... and then fall into deep relaxation, a silly perma-grin plastered to my face. Also I need to share this with my partner who comes from faraway lands and who has barely tasted what west coast festival culture has to offer!

Last year, Basscoast was the most incredible festival I went to the whole summer. I had plans to attend this year again, but alas I have spent every dollar I have putting out my debut album this summer. I had to make the sacrifice in order to push my music forward. Without my experience at Basscoast last year, I never would have made the push to do the album in the first place & it would be incredible to be reunited with all of the amazing family and friends I have there. Please send me - I will ensure I spread the love all around like peanut butter! <3

Hello I feel like I need to get these tickets because basscoast was my first music festival and it changed my entire existence, sitting in the altar space that Shwa built getting vibed out, and meeting all the lovely wood dwelling creatures that have became my extended family, my soul tribe. I volunteered last year and really would love. Basscoast created Tailis and whenever I return there I make sure that I am a positive input into this majikal experience for everyone around me, if I win these tickets I am gonna bring a very special friend with me and we will spread love and light down over our soultribe.. Oh yeah and if I dont win these tickets I probably wont be able to go... please make my dream come true and help me make another beings dreams come true..

I really want to win these tickets because my tribe go to Bass Coast every year, either to vend or to dance or both. I am 60 yrs old, and write to the under thirty because most have not yet been totally brainwashed. It is always an honour to meet those who are posed to change the world. Thanks

Krista Thibodeau says: Friends are the family you choose for yourself | Sat, 07/28/2012 - 12:25

Hi.
First of all thank you for taking the time to read this comment. It means a lot.
(the back story)
I have been blessed enough in this life to have a very close knit group of girlfriends. There are 5 of us. Miss Molly (me), Tilly, Missyo, jewels and candyass. We have been as thick as thieves for more then a decade. Sharing our lives, loves, tears, fears, dreams and most importantly dancing under the stars! And just as the seasons change so have our lives eventually we have all gone our seperate ways, Tilly moved to whistler, missy moved to Victoria, I moved out east, jewels had a baby and candy ass went traveling.
The plan this year was for all 5 of us to reunite at bass coast celebrate our friendship doing somethig we love! Dancin, music, art, air the stars! As this would have been the first time in over 5years since the 5 of us had all been in the same place at the same time. 4 of us ended up getting tickets but the 5th is having a hard time coming up with the cash.
What can I say about this soul. She is the most loyal friend I have ever had. She is so thoughtful and caring and considerate. She is the kind of friend that buys you a gift out of the blue, like recently I broke a glass smoking piece that I have had for years and years and she knew how much it meant to me so for no reason at all she showed up with a gift an when I opened it her eyes lit up knowing how much I appreciate the thought.. She had replaced it for me and said something along the lines of "maybe it was time to just let go of the past". Or when one of us expressed the intrest i hot yoga she went out o her way and hooked them up with a karma job at a local studio cleaning duties for free yoga! This is the kind of thing that my sister from another mister would do. just cause she can.
I honesty can't give you anymore reason to let me win these tickets other then this... I believe in karma I believe in fate and I believe that everyone comes into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. I know that my dear friend is in my life for a lifetime but I would love to be able to give her the gift of our reunion. share 3 nights in our favorite place soaking up the love and energy of this festival. I would like nothing more then to pay it forward to her, just to say thank you for being my friend.
That's all.

Much love, respect, laughter and light.
Miss Molly and the rest of the jazzy alleykats

By winning an awesome prize such as this, the ramifications for all other people attending will be simply bass shaking. Bumping and grinding my stuff for four days and three nights, will add extra comedy to the event with my most wicked disco moves.

Add to this the hot lady I might be able to entice to boogie on down with me, it will be a win win for all those involved.

I would love to be a winner again. :)

In the land of Squamish, while the beats massage me, I have nourished my soul many times over in this past decade. It is in this beautiful valley, where a dancing sub-culture is able to continue to grow, strengthen and evolve. While being moved, literally, by the talent and collective community who brings these events together, I have been witness and participant to an art and music scene that has bloomed an event of incredible integrity, talent, community and synergy, which is Bass Coast. This will be my second Bass Coast and I feel it's power to positively change social norms; how we relate to and ultimately how we live with one another. This inspirational music and arts culture is part of a growing global network that is connected through creative self-expression, awareness and the whomp and wobble of bass. While the bass continues to move us, ground us, and wake us to our connections on the dance floor and in life, I see myself there. Perhaps there is nothing better than being part of a synched and inspired dance floor. I would love to win these tickets and with this win, I will share my utter joy of dancing under the stars, in a spectacular valley with some of my best friends and also celebrate those new connections that happen instantaneously when our eyes meet in the middle of the rhythm that moves us together. Get ready to be inspired and to inspire - it's Bass Coast time.

I meet so many people who attend these festivals and tell me they completely change and transform. I have yet to feel this feeling. PELASE PLEASE allow me to experiance the wonders of the festival. Let me step to the other side!

That's right... this would be my first time at West Coast - out in the woods - music festival. Fully grown but never sampled the raw pleasure of a communal synergy and unrestricted creativity. There are so many workshops that would be amazing to participate it. Figure it's a must do for oh-so-many reasons.
The 2nd ticket would go to a flexible, dedicated and generous @ W2 who would probably be thrilled to be among friends and dance her ass off.
xox good vibes!

Well, the reason I feel these tickets should be mine is because about a month ago, I had an opportunity to go traveling just around the interior of BC and into the kootenays, so my girl and I have away our tickets to some friends who werent fortunate enough to afford them on there own. Thing is, We just recently found out that this 'staycation' experience in our own back yard wasn't happening anymore, and we are now both ticketless, with nothing to do, and just dont have the heart to adk for the tickets back, as thats pretty selfish. We are both totally avid festival goers and absolutely love the culture. Shambhala has been a festival we've attended for 7 years in a row, but have felt the vibe there isn't the same so we decided to do this smaller festival, closer to home, instead. Please help!
We're both so torn about not being able to make this, and would appreciate the love from you guys so so SO much. Well, hopefully this dream can come true, if not, thanks so much for the opportunity! You guys rock!
