Gang Signs Premiere Remix with ION; Parents of Band Members Review It

Today Vancouver based dance floor mopes Gang Signs release “Geist Remixes – Volume One”. This is the first of a two part EP project in which some very talented electronic music artists and producers, including ACTORS, Blank Cinema, HUMANS, Vincent Parker and many more, put their own spin on a track off the bands debut full length album “Geist”.  Now, full disclosure, I am in Gang Signs and as much as I love these songs, especially the Kinship remixed version of “Silver”, which you can listen to here, I cannot in good faith review the track myself. Instead I reached out to a group of completely unbiased music aficionados, our parents.

Ingrid Ricq of Montreal says, “I enjoyed the song! It has a strong melody and beat, putting you in a relaxing atmosphere.”

Very apt Ingrid! I couldn’t agree more.

Wolfgang Fink of Winnipeg says, “I find this to be industrial with a hint of new age.”

Now you know where my spiritual side comes from.

Josie Fink adds, “Your dad and I found it very easy to listen to and at the same time it had a hypnotic quality. Sounds like a winner!!!”

This was followed by a series of musical emojis. Now you know where my emoji side comes from.

Last but certainly not least is Gang Signs band mom Inga Jerkovic of Vancouver. “It’s a bit heavy on the bass (for my tastes :) ).

Moms love emojis.

“...but after the first few beats the remix evolved into this inviting mix of electronic and ethnic sounds. It is very intriguing, almost of a gothic depth that draws me in. Love it!”

There you have it. You don’t have to take our word for it but take theirs. They’ve been putting up with our, questionable, musical ability our whole lives and it speaks volumes when our folks, rather than any ol music journalist, describe a song we’ve released as “a winner”.
