The Gaze | Like An Old Friend

Previously highlighted in The Gaze, Gallery 44 is currently running a group show titled "Like An Old Friend", showcasing work by artists Gabrielle L'Hirondelle Hill, Nicole Kelly Westman along with Toronto-based artist collective Faraz Anoushahpour, Parastoo Anoushahpour and Ryan Ferko. As a result of the artists' mixed career backgrounds (drawing, sculpture and public installation / visual arts / film and installation), the show's cohesion is bound to be interesting; like old friends who meet up for dinner after losing contact with each other for a while.

Curated by Toronto-based writer and Head of Exhibitions at Gallery 44 Leila Timmins, the exhibition looks at how "histories and economies are inscribed on landscapes, mapping the often hidden power relations held within". Post-industrial sites used in the showcased work are reanimated with hints from the past and projections for the future.

"Like An Old Friend" is running until next Saturday, October 15th, so there's still plenty of time to check it out!
