HEALTH release new video for "L.A. Looks"

HEALTH have just released a new video for "L.A. Looks" from their 2015 album Death Magic.

Even though the band are generally tagged "Noise Rock" at this point they owe more to Depeche Mode than to Sonic Youth. Six years between studio albums probably mellows you out a little. The smooth vocal melodies, synth hooks, and programmed beats of this track reference a neon 80's without getting lost there. It's modern to sound a little retro after all. I suppose it's only fitting they chose to embrace the dirty VHS infomercial aesthetic of Canadian director Derrick Beckles of Adult Swim fame for the official video. Beckles started honing his VHS mashup skills in 1994 which eventually led to the creation of TV Carnage, a bootleg home-video series that was released as hour-long DVDs. So in some odd way this video is an homage of an homage if one can actually homage themselves in the form of a music video infomercial. Make sense? Good.

The full U.S. tour for Death Magic comes to a close this December 2nd in Anchorage, Alaska. What better way to celebrate than with a breezy summer soaked single? Call now, operators are standing by (213)-259-3841.
