Review: Goldfrapp's New Album "Silver Eye"

Goldfrapp have returned with their seventh (my money would've been on fourth, max) album Silver Eye and I'm pleased to admit that it's quite good. I haven't thought about this lovely synth-dance-pop-fashion show outfit since hair products (it might have been mascara) were being sold to the sounds of "Strict Machine" (which is still a killer track, btw). Silver Eye showcases a tremendous cross section of the current trend of Moroder/Carpenter-loving dark synth while still invoking memories of all the fun you had dancing high as kite on God-knows-what to Black Cherry. It's a throwback without being derivative. Listen to the witchy vocals of "Moon In Your Mouth" as you dance on the graves of Felix Da Housecat and Fischerspooner and all the other electroclash casualties who couldn't be here. I give this record 2 empty baggies, one neon striped shirt, and one of those smudging bundle things.

Silver Eye is out on March 31st.
