Vancouver's Jo Passed Signs to Prestigious Sub Pop and Royal Mountain Labels

It’s really nice when great things happen to great people. Today it was announced that the wonderful Jo Passed are not only releasing a new album, Their Prime, but that it’s coming out on May 25th via Hollerado's Royal Mountain Records in Canada and the mighty Sub Pop Records in the US/Worldwide. As if that wasn’t news enough, today we were also treated to the new video for the album’s first single “MDM”. Directed by Eleanor Petry the clip explores the band’s relationship with their phones. A relationship that, after watching, may not be the healthiest. Featuring a cast of ennui ridden youths with phones for hands, a selfie taking Ape and band leader Jo Hirabayashi bleeding from the mouth, the video gives us a ton of things to decipher but the highlight is definitely the song itself.  A cascading wall of fuzz interspersed with Hirabayashis infectious singing. It’s going to be a real treat to see how the rest of the world opens up to Jo Passed after they’ve been Vancouver’s best kept secret for so long.
