Video of the Day | Young Guv - "Crawling Back to You"

Like many rural, middle class Canadians, I adore the mall. There's nothing I want to buy there apart from the occasional three pack of underpants, but it's like crawling back in the womb for me. I have fond memories of hiding behind racks of clothes, trying to hide from my mum, and begging for a quarter to ride the horsey or to get an Orange Julius.

ION favourite Young Guv's new video for his Slumberland release whisks me to my youth; coming up to grown ups' waistlines, running in and out of Woolco and Boots, and generally whining for a bag of Hostess ketchup chips. The Kit Knows & Ben Cook-directed video stars an adorable tyke name Rex, spinning around the kiosks and businesses, and despite Young Guv's hip-hop-esque moniker, there are no blurred-out logos from the merchandise like one might see in a rap video. On top of the precious plot, the video is beautiful, featuring bumper shots of the ceiling and all adults being only featured from the neck down like an episode of Peanuts or Muppet Babies. It's another top tier piece of content from an artist who is one of this country's most talented.
