Warpaint Announce New Record, Release Aptly Titled New Song, "New Song"

Fans of knowing just a little bit more about music than your average mouth breather are pleased today with the release of Warpaint's new lead single. Possibly because titling songs "Untitled" is too 90s even for today's constant 1990s fetishism, the track is tagged as "New Song" with a refrain hook echoing the title. With a press statement claiming "The 11-track effort is said to be an eclectic collection, one influenced by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Janet Jackson, Björk, and Outkast," it would appear that whoever is steering the ship at Warpaint is finally cashing in their cool chips to attempt to make the leap from indie rock outlier to KROQ darlings, so we'll have to see if they are going to find the type of success at that kind of move we've seen before with outfits like Tegan & Sara, or if it's going to be punishingly cringeworthy like the time Liz Phair hired the Matrix production team to try and replace Avril Lavigne in the charts.
