Jacques Greene Releases New Single

Jacques Greene returns to the cyber stage with his new single "You Can't Deny", out as always on LuckyMe. A guaranteed summer club banger, Greene has blended his own style quite nicely with the sounds that are making dance floors pop this year - pitched vocals, uniquely guttural sounds (thanks to the influence of acts like Sophie MSMSMSM) and a bouncing rhythm that keeps it moving forward.

New BRONCHO Video Looks Like They Sound

Nerves were at attention before the mixes came back for BRONCHO's follow-up to Just Enough Hip to Be Woman, as they should have been. That record was a chest-filling relief for anyone who was legit concerned about guitar music never making a relevant mark again. It was the kind of album that if released during the main attraction days of guitar-based hysteria, it would have gone double platinum.

Cass McCombs' New Single

Cass McCombs, who can be described in a reductive fashion as "Sufjan for the heroin crowd," has been lurking around our record players and iTunes since the early part of the century. There's nothing gimmicky about McCombs, unlike many of his contemporaries who seem to be grasping at an attempt at burning out vs. fading away. "He's just... good," an otherwise articulate music writer once said to me, and perhaps that's all there is to say about him.

Warpaint Announce New Record, Release Aptly Titled New Song, "New Song"

Fans of knowing just a little bit more about music than your average mouth breather are pleased today with the release of Warpaint's new lead single. Possibly because titling songs "Untitled" is too 90s even for today's constant 1990s fetishism, the track is tagged as "New Song" with a refrain hook echoing the title.

Barbra Streisand and Hugh Jackman Release "Any Moment Now"

“Any Moment Now” is a soaring easter egg of a tune and it’s in good hands with Wolverine and Barbra. It’s classic Streisand, featuring piercing strings and thundering belts, and despite its ornate delivery, feels completely genuine. When you’ve had enough of this summer’s minimal electronic haze, pour some wine and slip into this song like a warm bath. Jackman is one of several actors blessed to appear on this upcoming album, including Star Wars’ Rey and Captain Kirk.

Yann Tiersen Shares New Track: "Roc’h ar Vugale"

In a magical way that reflects his work, Yann Tiersen is an artist who seems to appear and reappear in your life when you’re least expecting. From the countless enchanting piano compositions he’s put forward over the past two decades, to his legendary film scores (most notably writing and performing 18 of 20 compositions for Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s film Amélie) his music has a remarkable way of making you stop to reflect on whatever it is you have been burying for too long.

Album Review | Good Charlotte - Youth Authority

In the wake of the current late nineties/early aughties revival we have been enjoying a hit new record by Blink 182 and have been running around our cities trying to avoid getting flattened by cars in an attempt to catch Pokemon on our phones. What a time to be alive! With all of this silliness and nostalgia as a fun distraction from the daily grind we could probably just keep piling on, right? That's what the Madden boys of Good Charlotte thought too, so here they come. "Wonder Twin powers activate!

Cam'ron Releases Video With a Throwback Sound

It kind of seems weird to call "Oh Yeah" a new song. Yes, this fall's Killa Season 2 will be Cam'ron's first solo album since '09, but if this single is anything to go by, the man may have been in a medically induced coma for 7 years. "Oh Yeah" (and its video) drip with Dipset style, reminding us all of an era where it was enough for rappers simply to write songs about how cool they were, so long as they banged.

Song of the Day | Pixies "Um Chagga Lagga"

One can be too precious about anything: sports, politics, dogs. It's best to stay away from that mode of worship. Here's a good example: famed grunge granddaddies, the Pixies. A few years ago they decided to get back together, and this time not just tour, but make some new songs. Well, you can imagine the dour reaction from the self-proclaimed Pixies cognoscenti when not only did the music not sound like their heroin-soaked output of yesteryear, but (GASP) featured a bass player NOT named "Kim Deal".
