The Dude

“I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.” Jeff Bridges' The Dude is one of the most iconic and beloved characters of the past twenty years. The bathrobe-wearing, White Russian-drinking, half-baked Eagles-hating American hero is a favorite to many—including, apparently, Michael Fassbender. For Montreal-born Jason Reitman’s latest Live-Read, a performance of The Big Lebowski in Montreal for the Just For Laughs Festival, Fassbender took a break from filming X-Men: Apocalypse to take on the role of The Dude—pretty big shoes (or sandals) to fill. Pretty much the opposite of the roles he usual plays, this proved to be a pretty interesting night. Patton Oswalt pretty much stole the show as Walter, and the plethora of surprise guests, including Jennifer Lawrence as Maude and Dennis Quaid as the Big Lebowski, were icing on the cake.
