Ah, summer in the city. Everyone is at maximum chill, soaking up the sun for the few months that we are able to enjoy it. The only thing that makes it all better is your soundtrack and, as if on cue, local Vancouver phemons, Leisure Club, have just released the latest single, “Still Young” off of their long awaited debut album. Made up of players from such Vancouver notables as Bestie, Jo Passed, Tough Lovers and Maiwah, Leisure Club have a significant amount of musicianship to back up their brand of summer music, which isn’t just one-dimensional pop. Lines like “Take me out while we’re still young, take me out while we can feel it” show that the band is interested in more than just crafting songs to accompany your trip to Third Beach. Recorded by producer Shawn Cole at the Noise Floor on Gabriola Island, “Still Young” is remarkably fresh and full sounding, played with authority and conviction by some of the city's finest. While the album isn’t out until the Fall of this year you can still catch Leisure Club with pals Ponytails and BB tonight, Friday July 21, at the Cobalt, 917 Main Street, in Vancouver.
