COMPASS[ION] | Covenant House Sleep Out

Tonight, ION Publisher, Vanessa Leigh will be sleeping on the streets of Vancouver to raise awareness and money for Covenant House Vancouver and A Better Life Foundation. Challenged by Mark Brand (of Save on Meats, Boneta and other fine establishements) to raise more money than him for charity, we need your help. Mark is currently raising money for a charity that is close to hers/our heart, The Covenant House, and she/we are raising money for A Better Life Foundation, a foundation that works closely with Covenant House through their education and job placement program. The foundation also provides 350 hot meals a day to youth and people that are living in SROs in the DTES, so that they can have a least one hot meal a day. ABLF also runs a "food token" program; an initiave allowing people to purchase a food token and give them to people that are in need so they can exchange them for a meal at Save On Meats.

Vanessa's goal is to raise $11,000 and we're hoping that our readers will help us support her on reaching this goal. Every little bit helps and you get a tax receipt immediately. If you are unable to personally donate, please help by spreading the word. As an added incentive, Robert Chaplin, award winning author and illustrator, has generously donated personalized and hand signed copies of his latest award winning book, Teeny Ted From Turnip Town, which is the magnified and readable version of the book that won him a Guinness World Record as the smallest book in the world, for anybody or company that donates $250 or more.

Help make a difference in the lives of those that need our help, and wish Vanessa luck with her time on tonight's Sleep Uut by living and sleeping on the streets so that kids don't have to.
