Vera Saltzman Photography

When relocating to Fort Qu'appelle, Saskatchewan, photographer Vera Saltzman knew she was in for some cold weather, but didn’t quite anticipate how hard winter in the prairies can be. Luckily for her, and us, she made the most of it, and put the harshness and loneliness these winters can muster to some good, artistic use. Not only did her work connect her with the extreme surroundings, but she also created some of the most beautiful and haunting photography we’ve seen in a while. Catch limited editions in person at the Slate Gallery, Regina, until March 29, or purchase prints online at verasaltzmanphotographs.tumblr.com.
