Devil's Knot

Directed by Canadian director Atom Egoyan, Devil's Knot is a film adaptation of the book of the same name, based on the true story of three teenagers known as the "West Memphis Three" who were convicted for killing three young boys during a suspected satanic ritual back in 1993. Although identified as the murderers by the police, there is no hard evidence that the teenage boys did the crime. Reese Witherspoon plays a grieving mother while Colin Frith is an investigator who suspects that the WM3 boys are not guilty. The actor that caught our eye the most though was James Hemrick, who portrays Damien Echols, one of the three tried and convicted teens. He's kind of a heartthrob and we can't wait to see what this actor/model/musician gets up to next. And although Stephen Moyer (True Blood) performs his part as lawyer, John Fogelman, precisely well with the accent, all we could think of was "why is Bill Compton" in this film.

What seems more like a witch hunt than witch craft, Devil's Knot is a haunting mystery that left us wondering what the truth is, what really happened, and who really murdered those kids.

Devil's Knot opens in theatres on January 24th in Toronto and Vancouver.
